Andrea Moore and Joy Memmen were both nominated for the Denver Metro Regional Nightingale Recognition Award. The Awards Ceremony was held Saturday March 10. The Nightingale Award first recognized nurses in Colorado in 1986. The Bronze statue of Florence Nightingale caring for a wounded soldier that each State winner receives embodies the attributes of our modern day “Nightingales.” At the Regional Denver Metro Area event there were 148 nominees and 24 of the finalists were selected as finalists, who will be progress to the State level. The nominees are nurses that advance the profession of nursing and the positively impact their community through advocacy, leadership, and/or innovation. These nurses are intelligent, dedicated and selfless in providing care in whatever environment they are found.
Joy and Andrea both were nominated for their exemplary Leadership qualities. Those of you who know Andrea and Joy have observed them go over and above to assist with patient care and providing education and support to PVMC staff. This was the second time that staff from PVMC were nominated (Peggy Jarrett was our first) for this prestigious award and we were well represented by our two nominees.
