Massage Therapy Moves Today

As the old year turns over into the new, a few changes are coming to our Massage Therapy services. The first is an exciting move to a new location. On January 8, Outpatient Massage Therapy will move to the sleep lab, suite 250 in Medical Plaza 1, and will be open for business on Tuesday, January 9.

Patients and staff who are scheduled for a massage will still check in at the registration desk, but will now go to Suite 250 for services.

There have also been some small pricing increases made to the massage rates:

Non-Employee:

30-Minute Massage – $33.00

45-Minute Massage – $43.00

60-Minute Massage – $55.00

90-Minute Massage – $86.00

Employee (spouses eligible):

30-Minute Massage – $22.00

45-Minute Massage – $30.00

60-Minute Massage – $38.00

90-Minute Massage – $60.00

Massage gift certificates can be purchased from the cashier, or can be paid for at time of check-in at the registration desk. To schedule a massage, please call 303-498-1841.

New Sessions for Live PEARL Help

On January 1, Platte Valley will transition to SCL Health’s PEARL system for occurrence/event reporting. We wanted to make this change fun and interesting for everyone, so we’re giving you a chance to win some great prizes!

David Brand and Bonnie Turk from SCL Health will be in the Bistro for assistance and support. They’re PEARL experts so stop by and ask any questions that you might have! If you ask a question or get help from David and Bonnie during one of these dates, you’ll have a chance to register for daily giveaways of $5.00 Bistro Bucks certificates!

There are now additional sessions available this week:

Tuesday, January 9

11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
2:30 – 3:30 p.m.

1:00 – 2:00 p.m.

We need to know what you know! Occurrence reporting is important to Platte Valley, because they help us evaluate events that have occurred and prevent them from happening again, which keeps our patients, visitors, staff and medical staff safe. Occurrence reporting also helps us provide better, safer care, manage the hospital’s risk, and helps support the important work that you do! Some examples of events that should be reported include: Falls, Medication Errors, Delays in Care, Good Catches, Communication Issues, Injuries, etc.

During the month of January, every person with a verifiable occurrence entered into the PEARL system will be entered to win a gift card. We will be giving away 2 – $50 Visa gift cards and 4 – $25 AMC gift cards! All Platte Valley hospital associates are eligible to win.

Also, please remember to complete your HealthStream assignment to learn more about reporting events in PEARL. Your assignment is due on January 31st!

New “Plain Language” Emergency Notifications Coming

Starting today, you will receive an e-Learning assignment through HealthStream to learn our upcoming new code system for emergency notifications. Please complete this five-minute course before March 31 in time for the April 1 go-live date.

Why a new format?

When an emergency occurs at any SCL Health care site, it is critical that all associates, patients and visitors are informed of the situation and can take appropriate action to ensure their own safety and the safety of others. Currently, we have nearly 30 varying color-code and name or letter based emergency notifications system-wide. SCL Health is changing the format of emergency notifications in all care sites to a more easily understandable “plain language” system.

Beginning April 1, we will begin using plain language when communicating an emergency situation. For example, instead of using coded language such as “Code Red in Room 100,” the alert will plainly state what is occurring, such as “Facility Alert: Fire, Room 100,” followed by what action to take. This change aligns us with industry best practices and recommendations from The Joint Commission, the Colorado Hospital Association and numerous others, and will aid in providing clear communication and instruction in an emergency.
