The American College of Radiologists confirmed PVMC’s formal designation as a lung cancer screening center on September 13. The designation formally recognizes accreditation for an integrated imaging/oncology/patient navigation program focusing on early recognition of lung cancer in a defined high-risk patient set.
This accreditation was one of the operationally-oriented strategic goals for PVMC in 2018 and will serve the Brighton service region well given the prevalence of high-risk patients residing in our catchment area. Thus, the program is highly responsive to recent identified needs from PVMC’s Community Health Needs Assessment.
We are pleased to say that Platte Valley was recognized for its commitment to treating patients with chest pain and after a rigorous onsite evaluation of staff, PVMC was awarded its Chest Pain Center Accreditation.
Stroke and Chest Pain Coordinator Billy Nolan thought the visit went very well, saying, “The representatives from the American College of Cardiology loved our facility and think that we have a great cardiac program! They gave us numerous compliments about the facility, our collaborative work across departments and disciplines, and the fact that we don’t work in silos. They also gave us some suggestions on ways to improve and some sneak previews of requirements that may be coming in the future so that we can advance our practice now and be ahead of the curve. As far as surveys go… this was a great experience!”
Billy thanks everyone for their support of their program, with a special thank you to Shari Engelhardt and Bev Lutter for all of their help with the accreditation process and the success of the survey.
