Area patients exhibiting stroke symptoms now have access to the latest treatment options … here. Platte Valley Medical Center is pleased to announce that beginning Wednesday, February 1, it will actively begin receiving stroke patients and will enter a lengthy period of measurement for The Joint Commission’s (TJC) Primary Stroke Center Certification. Certification is based on the recommendations for primary stroke centers published by the Brain Attack Coalition and the American Stroke Association’s statements and guidelines for stroke care. The Joint Commission launched the program—the nation’s first—in 2003. There are currently more than 800 certified primary stroke centers in 49 states and certification is available only to stroke programs in Joint Commission-accredited acute care hospitals.
PVMC’s core Stroke Team includes Neurologist and Stroke Director Dr. Rai Kakkar. He brings many years of experience in leading complex stroke care systems.
