Win Tickets for High Valley Concert at the AdCo Fair

The Marketing Department has a few pairs of tickets to the High Valley concert at the Adams County Fair next Wednesday, August 2 at 8 p.m. We’d like to give these away to our associates. To be entered to win, please write 2-3 sentences about why you love the Adams County Fair, and email it to evelyn.wiant@sclhs.net. This could be a special memory from past fairs or a favorite event, category or show at the fair. The deadline to enter is Monday, July 31 at 8 p.m. We will select all winners on August 1.

High Valley is a Canadian country music duo from Blumenort, Alberta. They’re already popular in Canada, and they’re gaining great popularity here in the US; in fact, they’re Tim McGraw & Faith Hill’s opening act at the Pepsi Center next week. Tickets Available for Foundation High Tea Party

Air out your best floppy hat, the Foundation High Tea Party is back again! The tea is on Sunday, August 6 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. This “posh” (as the Brits say) event raises money for the Women’s & Children’s fund, and it’s a whole teacup full of fun! If you’d like to attend, you can easily purchase a ticket online. The event opens with a mimosa for the adult ladies and sparkling juice for the little ladies, followed by a fresh salad, a variety of sandwiches, and your choice of teas. Luncheon is followed with a variety of scones, cakes and chocolate-dipped strawberries for dessert. You’ll also have the opportunity to shop with a few local vendors, and have your portrait taken in the fun photo booth. Join us for this fun event!

Windows Update Tomorrow Morning

The Systems and Technology Service Center (STSC) will be performing routine computer maintenance to install Critical Windows Updates beginning on Wednesday morning (July 26th) at midnight. If your device needs updates, you may be prompted to reboot at any time.

Important information:

You will receive a one-hour notification prior to your computer rebooting, which can be minimized or used to manually restart your computer.
Once the countdown reaches 15 minutes, an additional notification will occur that cannot be minimized. You cannot postpone the reboot between midnight and 5 a.m. MT.
You can select the “Restart” button to reboot your device immediately or wait for the countdown clock to restart your computer automatically.

PVMC Has Three Innovation Challenge Winners!

Yes, you read that right! Three of the Innovation Challenge winners are Platte Valley employees!

Bianca Schroetlin, Chris Bowlin and Evan Landvik are all winners of the SCL Health Innovation Challenge. Associates across the system submitted nearly 300 ideas as part of SCL Health’s first ever Innovation Challenge, so we are very proud to have not one, but three winners.

Bianca’s project is to “harness the power of video emails and nurse phone follow-up to reduce hospital readmissions by enhancing patient aftercare through: connection, education, understanding and adherence.” Essentially, with the support of educational videos and follow-up, this project aims to increase the likelihood of patients adhering to discharge instructions and improve their recovery.

Chris’ project also centers around reducing readmissions, specifically of patients suffering from COPD. This project would provide COPD patients with a non-invasive ventilation device to take home after being discharged. Patients who use the device would be able to avoid exacerbating their COPD, and prevent future visits to the ED with escalated symptoms. In the long term, this project hopes to decrease the amount of time a COPD patient is admitted to the hospital, and improve their overall quality of life.

Evan’s project seeks to create a multi-agency care plan on a shared digital platform. If you’re thinking this isn’t a new concept, you may be right, but Evan’s idea takes this concept a step further than what’s currently available. “What is unique about this idea,” reads the project proposal, “is that it creates a common plan for multiple, otherwise-unaffiliated agencies to reference, document and share information with each other.”

All of the Innovation Challenge winners will receive $1000 plus the funding needed to put their projects into motion.
