Tune in to the ICE every two weeks for Planetree Perspective shorts. Each edition will include one or two short stories of great Planetree service from around our hospital.
One of our Volunteer Patient Representatives started her day as usual with greeting and visiting patients on the Med/Surg/Peds Unit. Upon entering a patient’s room, she noticed that a lady was grieving from the loss of sister. To her surprise, the patient was still lying in the bed; she had just died moments before. The Patient Representative asked if she could assist in any way and was invited to sit with the family member while she held onto her dead sister’s hand in grief. Our Volunteer spent 45 minutes listening and supporting this family member.
