Kathy Mills is the cheerful Community Outreach assistant. She’s already known around the hospital as a person who’s always happy to help wherever she can. Recently, Kathy graduated from Everest College with a degree in Medical Insurance Billing and Coding. She also received the WT Parks Leadership Award for going above and beyond for her fellow students and faculty at Everest.
While working part time in Community Outreach, Kathy also did an externship in HIM while getting her degree and maintaining a 3.89 GPA. She also went out of her way whenever other students needed help, or even just a hot meal. Now that she has graduated, Kathy will be taking the state test to be certified for coding. She also plans to return to school for ICD-10 training.
Kathy had a few words for the people who helped her to be a successful student: “Thank you to Peggy Jarrett, for making it possible for me to work while going to school, and to Becky Ferrell in HIM for my externship.”
Way to go Kathy!
