The silent auction and car wash weren’t the only benefits held to raise money for Relay for Life. Over the last four months, PVMC has hosted a Cookies by the Pound sale, a fishing derby, and a garage sale to raise funds for cancer research. To date, these events have collected over $11,000.
“We have raised $11,727.00 between both teams,” elates Team captain Phyllis Kildal. “Wow, wow. Hopefully we will win 1st place. We can do it, thanks for all your help!”
The Relay For Life event will be held this Friday and Saturday at the Brighton Recreation Center. It’s not too late to donate. If you would like to support PVMC’s teams, click here.

Since her recovery from cancer two years ago, Phyllis has wanted to give back. Her goals are simple; help those in need any way she can to make the ailment she suffered from easier. Her quest has taken her from a thought to a big plan and now action.
“Her commitment is truly wonderful,” says Sally Cunningham who is helping Phyllis with the “Relay for Life.”
Phyllis, along with Sally and Liz Hernandez of the Nutritional Services Department has been working hard to raise money for the American Cancer Society. In conjunction with many other PVMC departments, Phyllis, Sally and Liz have exceeded their money-raising goals! The “Relay for Life” is set for July 8 and 9 at the Brighton Recreation Center.
Looks like cancer’s going to get its payback if Phyllis has her way. Way to go Phyllis!
