Cath Lab 2 is now officially open and receiving patients. The new cath lab offers several advantages to Platte Valley and our patients as we continue to expand our cardiovascular service line. The room allows for greater patient volumes, with a reduced impact on wait times. It will also eliminate the conflicts that arise with emergent patients that come in from the ED. The overall workflow in the cath lab will be greatly improved and allow for the addition of new services and procedures.
The equipment itself will help improve diagnostic and interventional images with a greatly reduced radiation dose being delivered to patients and staff. The camera has some high-tech imaging packages that will allow the physicians to obtain better data before, during and after diagnostic procedures and interventions. This is the first Philips Azurion system installed west of the Mississippi and Platte Valley will now be a show site for Philips.
We will have visitors from all over the United States and Europe coming to see the new system. This amazing new state-of-the-art lab will allow us to have an open dialogue and exchange ideas with cardiovascular professionals from all over the world.
