Thousands of people came out for Brighton’s 125th Anniversary and Fourth of July celebration at the brand new Carmichael Park. The event kicked off at 2:00 p.m. with a formal program followed by a historical fashion show that told the tale of Brighton’s rich 125 year heritage. Other activities included kids’ competitions, live entertainment, a pie eating contest, vendor booths and a beer garden. Brighton’s Youth Commission brought out their “Green Team” to help with recycling efforts and even had surprise flash mob dances throughout the event. The celebration ended with a concert by Funkiphino and the city’s largest fireworks display.
Said one of our new residents,“that was awesome and amazing yesterday! It is our first 4th of July in Brighton and we are reminded again of what a great choice it was to move here. Thank you for the music, parks, friends, and fireworks!” ~ Tifanny Irions
In closing we want to give special thanks and recognition to the 125th Anniversary Committee, Special Events, and all of our volunteers, who helped make this event such a tremendous success.
