Andrea Moore, Emily Kruchten, Bethany Gable, and Joy Memmen recently attended a week-long class at Colorado Center for Nursing Excellence. Students attend the course and are given instructions and pearls of wisdom on teaching nursing students. At the end of the course, the students are honored with the title Clinical Scholar.
In many hospitals, Clinical Scholars assist with teaching and instructing nursing students. They serve as a bridge between the clinical environment and the academic environment. Clinical Scholars are employed in their clinical roles within hospitals and are often the clinical experts, as is the case for our four newly minted Clinical Scholars. Several of our Clinical Scholars have been serving in this role to teach nurses with experience that want to orient to a new specialty area. Andrea and Bethany are serving as Clinical Scholars for the Emergency Department, while Emily and Joy serve in Critical Care. We would like to express our heart-felt thanks to the PVMC Foundation for their generous support in funding the cost of tuition for this class. We are grateful that the Foundation is so vested in our future as to provide the funding for quality education and training for our staff.
