For nearly 34 years, Gayle Collins, PVMC’s Director of Accounting, has dedicated much more time to balancing PVMC’s general ledger than nurturing her garden. However, Gayle has announced it is time for the “balance” to change. On August 1st, Gayle traded in her general ledger for gardening gloves and retired. Gayle began her career in Accounts Payable in October of 1979, and within a few months was also doing the Hospital’s accounting. She was promoted to supervisor, and then was appointed the Director of Accounting in 1987. In 34-years of service to PVMC, Gayle has provided accounting leadership for many PVMC transitions. Gayle has made sure PVMC’s “books” were in order for multiple building and facilities projects, computerized accounting and financial systems, and large capital financing transactions.
With Gayle’s retirement comes a series of changes for the Accounting Department. Mary Cross, PVMC’s Payroll/Budget Manager, will be promoted to the Director of Accounting position. In assuming the responsibilities for the accounting department leadership, Mary will retain the lead role for PVMC’s annual budget planning process and operations financial performance management and analytics.
“It has been my privilege to enjoy Gayle’s capable financial leadership support in my role as CFO,” explains Harold Dupper. “On behalf of PVMC, I thank her and wish her well and much success in her gardening and other post-general-ledger adventures. Please join me in wishing Gayle well and congratulating Mary as they continue working together through these transitions over the next couple of months.”
