At Platte Valley Medical Center we care for sick term babies and premature infants from 32 weeks gestation. Our nurses not only care for these special babies and their families, but they go above and beyond to make their experience the best it can be.
Recently one of our nurses wanted to brighten a family’s day and decided to decorate the baby’s door to her room and her bulletin board.
First of all it is appropriate here to mention this is a very special little girl named “Sophie” and Sophie is a princess. One of her nurses, Theresa, made a beautiful bulletin board in her room and decorated her door. Every princess requires a crown and a horse drawn carriage. Theresa made the carriage out of paper with a technique called “scherenschnitte.” This craft requires very careful cutting with tiny scissors. These turned out beautiful and it made Sophie’s parents’ day so much better! Our nurses become very attached to our little patients and their wonderful parents (Sophie’s mom and dad are Sam and Jim). These small things can really make a difference to our families. Keep up the great work you do SCN nurses.
Also congratulations to Sophie’s two great parents, Sam and Jim.
