This year Pennock Center for Counseling honored Platte Valley Medical Center with their 2018 Healing Hearts Award. Each year the Pennock Center recognizes an individual, or organization who shows a commitment to improving mental health and substance abuse problems, works to reduce the stigma associated with mental health problems, and works to connect those in need with services, or create programs to address mental health needs.
“Platte Valley Medical Center is an anchor in this community. After completing their Community Health Needs Assessment, they have again identified mental health and substance abuse as priority needs in our community,” said Jody Pierce, executive director of the Pennock Center. “PVMC demonstrates this commitment to mental health advocacy in many ways. They coordinate the Brighton Service Agency Coalition which meets quarterly to provide a place for community organizations to share resources. They work to evaluate their patient’s needs and readily refer patients from the Emergency Department for follow up mental health care. They even include mental health in community events, like the Girls’ Night Out. And over the years they have provided CHIP- Community Health Investment Partnership grants to support our work in making mental health care accessible to all. Thank you Platte Valley Medical Center.”
