Cancer and the treatments following can severely affect a person’s functional mobility and will likely also cause pain. Surgery, chemotherapy, and/or radiation can affect all of the body’s systems including the musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiopulmonary, and immune systems. Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy have many tools to address pain, range of motion/scar tissue restrictions, decreased endurance, and decreased immune system function. PVMC’s Physical Medicine Department has several therapists specifically trained in working with individuals who have had a cancer diagnosis. We strive to provide a comprehensive oncology team to improve quality of life for those in our community.
