Peer checking is all about watching out for each other. Peers share situational awareness and provide on-the-spot second opinions. When we provide a check or ask for a check it has nothing to do with how good we are but it has everything to do with the fact that we are humans and we all make mistakes.
Peer coaching is about providing constructive feedback. Peers provide a 5:1 ratio of positive to negative feedback to reinforce good habits, extinguish poor habits, and build better practice habits. Sharing positive feedback on a regular basis assists you in creating respectful relationships with your peers, so that you can have honest and supportive conversations when improvement opportunities arise too!
Today and every day we are 100% accountable as individuals to do the right thing. If we see something, we say something. Every day we are also part of a team. We are also 100% accountable that the team does the right thing.
