Did you know that PVMC offers inpatient and outpatient speech therapy services? Last month was better speech and hearing month, which celebrates speech-language pathology and audiology. Speech-language pathologists (SLP’s) provide a variety of skills that go well beyond helping people to learn how to talk.
SLP’s help patients overcome deficits such as memory loss, swallowing disorders, voice issues, and communication difficulties. Problems can range from not being able to speak following a stroke, to losing the ability to talk or swallow from head and neck cancer, to experiencing hoarseness at a job that requires frequent talking. SLP’s can assist with all of these conditions and many more. Please feel free to stop by the Physical Medicine Department or call ext. 1873 to learn more about speech therapy and how it can benefit you or your patients.
