Heidi Hough becomes Platte Valley Medical Center’s new Infection Prevention Specialist. After 5 years with SCL Health in Platte Valley’s ICU and SDU, Heidi joins the Infection Control team in the Performance Improvement department. As an infection preventionist, her new role will be to monitor and help prevent infection throughout the hospital – with patients, doctors and visitors. She will be working with the various regulatory agencies and consulting with doctors on best practices.
Having been in nursing since 1986, Heidi worked in multiple departments including the VA and Western Infectious Disease Consultants before joining Platte Valley. Heidi’s giving spirit goes beyond the hospital with much of her free time going toward taking care of her animals: horses, cats, dogs and chickens.
If you have any infection control issues or questions for Heidi, you can call 303-498-1558 or visit her in Performance Improvement Suite across the hall from the conference center in the main building of Platte Valley.
We have a new face on the PVMC team! Bryan Manson has accepted the role of Sr. Financial Analyst and will work with Mary Cross in Accounting. Bryan comes to us from the System Finance office where he has supported care sites with budgeting and financial forecasting for the past two years. Prior to SCL Health, Bryan was with Renal Ventures Management in Golden, CO for four years supporting clinic operations. He recently completed his MBA from Frostburg State and lives in Firestone, CO with his wife Jesseca.
Please welcome Bryan to the PVMC family!
We’re happy to introduce our new Human Resources Director Ginny Arndt. Ginny is replacing Jackie Dunkin, who is retiring after 34+ years of service at Platte Valley. Ginny joins us from Lutheran Medical Center where she has been working as the Human Resources Director for the last five years. She has over 17 years of HR experience working in a hospital setting and 10 years as a Human Resources Director.
On a personal note, Ginny was born and raised in Colorado. Of course, being a native, she’s a huge Broncos fan and sports fan in general. Her favorite pastime is taking her dog, Wrigley, for a good long walk. She truly enjoys spending time with her family and has two nephews whom she adores.
Ginny is very excited to join Platte Valley and is eager to get to know all of you. If you see her around, please give her our warm Platte Valley welcome!
We are excited to welcome Ginger Carmichael as our new Oncology Services Manager. Ginger comes to us with an extensive oncology background. She has been an Oncology Certified RN for over 10 years. Prior to that she worked as an Intensive Care Unit nurse in a level 1-trauma center. She has a Master’s degree in Nursing, in addition to degrees in Biology and Chemistry. She is also about to complete the requirements for a Nurse Practitioner in Oncology. Ginger views this as another method of enhancing her understanding and ability to educate not only our patients, but also our other clinical staff. She has mentored many nurses over the years in the field of Oncology and has served as an Oncology Consultant with a Nurse Advisory Board in Washington D.C. She has also served as a National Exam Question Writer for the Oncology Nursing Society.
Her goal is to see that all of our patients receive the best care possible from everyone they come in contact with while using our services. Ginger has also participated in the opening of four Oncology Infusion centers from the ground up, and will use this experience to help expand our program at Platte Valley. Her goal is to develop a program that would allow patients to come to Platte Valley and receive all the services they need in one location so that travel to multiple medical facilities for different treatments becomes unnecessary.
Please join us in warmly welcoming Ginger Carmichael to Platte Valley Medical Center.
A few changes have recently been made to our oncology clinic. Dr. William Lee is no longer operating a clinic within our oncology department, but will remain on-call until further notice. Two new physicians will be joining us from National Jewish Health, Dr. Shivani Shinde and Dr. Robert Kantor.
Both doctors specialize in all adult cancers, including breast, colon, lung, and prostate cancer, as well as blood disorders, lymphoma, leukemia and melanoma.
Additionally, we welcome two new staff members. Elizabeth Schneider is our new Director of Oncology Services. Liz is already a valuable and capable associate in our Platte Valley family, and we welcome her warmly to this role. We are also excited to welcome Ginger Carmichael as our Oncology Services Manager. Ginger has an extensive oncology background; she has been an Oncology Certified RN for over 10 years and is known for providing quality patient care. Ginger will join us on November 27.
We are excited to announce that Sean Fadden has accepted the position of Vice President of Finance for Platte Valley Medical Center. As Vice President, Sean will be responsible for the financial operations of Platte Valley and continued integration of Platte Valley to the SCL Health family. He will be at Platte Valley full time beginning December 4.
Sean has been with SCL Health for more than five years, starting at Lutheran Medical Center as a Senior Financial Analyst. He then transitioned to a system services management role to support the implementation of a systemwide stewardship program. He most recently served as Manager of Business Analytics with the Enterprise Business Analytics team.
Sean has been instrumental in the development and implementation of the SCL Health stewardship program. His engagement and financial management support have been a key part of the success of achieving more than $146 million in stewardship savings over the past two years. With the consolidation of the Stewardship and Decision Support teams under Sean’s leadership, the newly formed Enterprise Business Analytics team has advanced, standardized and much improved the financial reporting for the care sites.
Sean earned a bachelor’s degree in business management and economics from Salisbury University in Maryland. He is currently pursuing an MBA in finance and accounting from Regis University. He lives in Denver with his wife, Lauren, and their two dogs. He enjoys outdoor activities, traveling, and house projects.
Sean is currently on his honeymoon, so unfortunately he’s unavailable for a better photo. However, he’s a friendly guy, so we’re sure he will introduce himself far and wide when he gets back. Please join us in welcoming Sean to his new role!
Please welcome Elizabeth “Liz” Schneider as the new Director for Medical Imaging (MI). Liz joins us most recently from Health Images, an outpatient imaging center in Denver. Prior to that she served long tenures in several acute care hospitals in Arizona, where she was an administrative leader for medical imaging services in organizations very similar to PVMC in both size and scope.
Liz is looking forward to meeting you all personally, but feel free to drop by and introduce yourself in the meantime. Her office was formerly Karen Swanson’s office, located in the east hallway of MI. Liz and Jim Mcmakin will be working closely in the coming weeks to accommodate a smooth transition and Jim will subsequently reabsorb his leadership position in PACS administration. Jim has been an amazing and successful leader in imaging and has elected to refocus on his passion in the complex world of PACS and imaging IT, an extraordinarily challenging role in its own rite.
Let’s give Liz a warm welcome and facilitate her onboarding to PVMC.
