Each year during the holiday season, we hand out a letter of gratitude to our associates. Traditionally, this letter has contained information about a holiday bonus for eligible employees, and a coffee coupon for everyone. But, not everyone enjoys drinking coffee, and over the years we’ve had requests to “mix it up” with a different kind of coupon. This year, we’ve randomly distributed some vouchers for $5 off your total purchase in the Bistro. These can be used to purchase coffee, if you’ve been waiting patiently for your peppermint mocha with whipped cream, or can be used towards other food and beverages in the Bistro. We hope you’ll like the change, please let us know by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
When Lawson payroll goes live on June 18, the process of paying for food in the Bistro with your badge will also undergo a change. Starting on June 18, you will no longer have to pre-load your badge for Bistro and Barista purchases. Instead, associate purchases will be deducted directly from your paycheck*. Associates who wish to participate in this option will need to fill out this form and return it to Hannah Murphy.** If you turn in the form by June 15, you will be included in the first round of uploads, making your Bistro purchasing experience as seamless as possible.
In order to prepare for the transition, beginning June 1, Bistro staff will no longer load money onto associate badges. If you currently have money on your badge, try to spend down the balance by June 17. If you are unable to spend your balance, a refund will be issued on your July 7th paycheck.
The Bistro’s discount on employee purchases will still apply, and if you will not be using payroll deduction, you can still use cash or bank cards. If you have any questions about this change, please contact Hannah Murphy at Hannah.email@example.com or x1680.
* There is a charge limit of $200/pay period, which comes out to about $14/day.
** PRN and contracted employees are not eligible for the payroll deduction program.
You may remember that the bistro discovered an issue with their bank card batching that delayed the posting of Bistro charges into bank accounts. Although the issue was fixed, it did cause a couple of employees to overdraft their bank accounts. If your account was overdrafted during last week’s bank card batching issue in the Bistro, please contact Hannah Murphy at Hannah.firstname.lastname@example.org. They may be able to have your bank waive the overdraft fees associated with the issue.
Tonight at 8:20 p.m., when Bistro staff batches the current credit card transactions, there is the potential for all credit card transactions to post to user’s bank account at once. This may cause associates to overdraft if they have frequently used their card in the Bistro over the past month, but have not tracked outgoing expenses.
Please be sure to check the balance of the account you use in the Bistro as soon as possible, so that you do not experience an overdraft of your account.
If you have questions, please email me at Hannah.email@example.com.

It also talks about the daily business of the Silver Aspen Bistro, from planning menu items to handling the lunch rush, and how Chef Mike comes up with some of our favorite dishes. You can view the story here, or support Local Color by purchasing this month’s magazine or a year’s subscription at www.localcolormag.com.
