On Friday, December 7th, Peggy Jarrett and volunteer, Joanne Osborne delivered Homemade Peach jam and locally sourced honey to PVMC Associates. In order to encourage donations to this year’s Almost Home Thanksgiving Box program, Peggy had promised a jar of her homemade peach jam or a bottle of honey from her hives for every $40 donated to the program.
The associates came through with donations of $3,275.30! and Peggy had to distribute a total of 45 jars/bottles to the associates.
Peggy’s jam is well known to most of the PVMC associates but this is the first year that her honey has joined into the holiday giving. She started keeping bees in 2015 but this is her first honey harvest of hopefully many years to come! She originally started keeping bees because of the decline in the bee population but they are very beneficial for her flowers, vegetable garden and now with honey production.
If you have any interest in Beekeeping, you can contact her or the Brighton Bee Club (website), which is full of very experienced beekeepers.
